A tall cylinder of natural alabaster, cut thin so the whole shade lights up warm from within and its bold dark charcoal veining glows from behind. It sits on a round brass wall disc, and because the stone is open at the top and bottom the light escapes as a gentle wash up and down the wall as well as through the body. Every shade is cut from natural alabaster, so the veining on yours is its own — no two are alike.
It is a warm, architectural piece, and it is switched by touch rather than a wall plate. A single one reads as a soft column of light beside a bed or along a corridor; a facing pair frames a mirror or a doorway. Off, it is a quiet cylinder of pale stone on warm brass; on, the alabaster becomes the glow.
