A short, solid cylinder of natural marble mounted so its flat circular face looks out into the room. The stone is white and pale gray, crossed by bold charcoal veins that break into irregular blotches, and it has been cut thin enough that the whole drum glows softly from within once the light is on. Warm light spills from the top and bottom of the cylinder, washing up and down the wall behind it.
There is no visible bulb, no metal trim and no bracket — just a piece of stone sitting against the plaster, switched on and off by touch. Unlit it reads as a solid sculptural object, closer to a paperweight than a lamp; lit, the veining comes forward and the drum turns into a small pool of warm light.
