A block of natural marble hung from a short flat arm on a round wall plate, all of it in black iron. The stone is a white and cream ground broken by bold charcoal veins that run down the faces in irregular bands, and it is cut thin enough that the whole block lights from within the veining turns from gray to amber as the light comes through. Every block is sawn from a different piece of stone, so the pattern on yours is its own.
The black hardware keeps it grounded and graphic, which is what stops the marble reading as fussy. It throws a soft warm pool onto the wall above and below, so it works as a reading light beside a bed, a quiet marker along a hallway or stairwell, or a pair either side of a mirror. An E26 bulb is included, so it is ready to wire in.
